The Night Shift RPG

Night Shift is a rules light RPG setting created by the community over at /tg/. To quote the wiki:
"The Night Shift is a setting and resources for running a horror-game. It is the brainchild of a collaboration of some anons on /tg/. Players are employees working the night shift at a gas station on the lonely side of nowhere. They must balance the drudgery of their mundane duties and responsibilities with the uncanny, preternatural, supernatural, and paranormal events which seem to happen at this particular gas station."

I wanted to run a game of it in October however (as with most community projects) its rules were a bit of a mess, existing across ~5 drafts and 3 systems. People from /tg/ and I brought a number of drafts together to create a PbtA ruleset, and I've tried to format it in a user friendly way. Currently I have a basic rule book for players and six playbooks, should be enough to run a game with some improvisation.

Base Raiders GM Screen

I'll be the first to admit, there was really no need to make this one. There is already a GM screen for Base Raiders available on the website. Ultimately, I just did this for the exercise, making these really helps when learning the rules.

Still, it's pretty.

In my efforts to find a cheap way to make these into self-standing GM screens, I laminated these with a piece of heavier stock card in the middle for rigidity.

Red Markets Gear List

Having a full time job that I'm desperately trying to distract myself from, making a pictorial version of the Red Markets Gear List seemed like a great idea. After sharing the first draft with Red Market's creator, Caleb Stokes, he was generous enough to share the official Red Markets item art with me for this. That alone made it much nicer, so a massive Thank you to Caleb.

All of the required information should be included, with each page designed to be fairly self contained. The core gear list has been broken down into seven pages:
  • Melee Weapons
  • Ranged Weapons
  • Explosive Gear
  • Armor and Apparel
  • Drugs and Healthcare
  • Technology and Pets
  • Miscellaneous Items (Everything else)
Each page includes the descriptions for relevant qualities and upgrades and the charge count for each item.

DG Character Sheet Remix

I'm a huge fan of Delta Green.
However, a number of things about the new character sheet didn't work me. Primarily, I wanted to have at least one weapon on the front and a rule reference on the back. Otherwise I'd never remember to use the special combats moves.
Also colour, I like when Character sheets have colour:

Unlike most of the stuff I make this is just an edit of the original file, the give away being the identical background image.

Base Raiders!

After listening to an excessive amount of RPPR I decided to finally get around to playing Base Raiders. Probably a good idea considering the books have been sitting on my shelf since the Boiling Point Kickstarter...

Because actually planning out a campaign would be effort, I instead spent that time making a more colourful version of the Character Sheet:

Then, knowing that I'd completely forget to invoke the player aspects if I didn't have them in front of me at all times, I made some visually appropriate summary sheets:

Party Summary - 4 Players Party Summary - 6 Players

Note sections have the underlying grid because I crave structure.

Red Markets Score Creation Worksheets

Having an aversion to flipping through rule books at the game table, I decided to craft a set of Score Creation worksheets. The aim was to have printouts to record creation in, while including the required information and guidance the rule book provides.

Red Markets GM Screen / Cheat Sheets

Shortly after the Red Markets pdf release, I decided sleep wasn't important and spent my entire Sunday compiling the ~500 page rule-book into a 3 page GM screen. In a pinch, it could serve equally well as a set of rule reference sheets.

GM Screen

Using clear tape, rigid plastic sleeves, and a degree in engineering turned them into a DIY screen:
